trying to balance med school and fitness

so much about med school and a demanding career in general is putting your all into it and then making an effort to make time for the things that you love outside of it.

one thing i learned is that people in medicine are so passionate which is great but it tends to consume your identity. growing up i always loved sports and physical activity. i played basketball in high school, club basketball and hitting the gym in college and now being in med school, i went through a phase where i didnt do anything except study and research.

i felt hollow even though there was prestige and social currency in being identified solely as an aspiring doctor. as much as medicine is my passion, i dont want to just be identified as a doctor.

i want to also be jacked, a sponsored young la athlete, an entrepreneur. sometimes i almost feel trapped but isnt the point to break out of the box?
